Blackburn are now in talks to sign a new defender for manager John Eustace as they look to continue their push for a place in the Priority play-offs come at the end of the campaign.
Blackburn achieved great success in the season
Although currently seventh in the Championship, Blackburn have returned two points from their last five games (two draws and three defeats) in their worst form in the division during that time, and a cure is needed fast.

As it stands, they remain close to the top six in the division, but their gap to those below them has been reduced to just two points, with the three sides sitting on 37 points, while Norwich City are just a point behind them, all with their eyes on leapfrogging Rovers in their own bid for a play-off spot.
Despite Blackburn reportedly looking to make several signings January transfer windowadmitted John Eustace that nothing was close yet.
“Nothing at the moment,” he explained ahead of their clash with Middlesbrough when asked about transfers. “I know the club is working hard to try to bring in some players, so hopefully we can continue with that and see where it takes us. I’m sure there won’t be anyone before the weekend.”

However, he wants that to change, admitting his side needs “help” to keep their play-off hopes alive: “We’re doing the right things, but we have to stay positive and we think we can be the best team in this league. But we need help. Hopefully we can make it happen to stay in the push for where we want to be.”
Now one of the people he hopes will come has been revealed.
Blackburn in loan negotiations
It is according to Lancashire Telegraph, who report that Blackburn are in talks with Coventry City over a move for defender Liam Kitching.
Any deal would likely be a loan move for the defender, they report, with Blackburn unlikely to offer anything close to the £4m Coventry splashed out to bring him in 18 months ago. It added that “talks were ongoing last week and at one stage a deal looked likely”, but that his involvement in Coventry’s last game left a move “on the line”.
The defender hit the headlines for the wrong reasons last season, scoring two own goals in the same game, and has been out of favor so far this season.
To date, he has started only seven times in the Championship, and only one of them has come under the leadership of new boss Frank Lampard. A left-footed centre-back who can also deputize at left-back, the 6ft 1 defender is seen as an excellent option to provide cover for the injured Harry Pickering at Ewood Park.
However, one player who will not be making a move is Grant Hanley, with the report adding that a move for the defender “is not the deal that Rovers are looking for at the moment”. Could Kitching be the one to help Blackburn stay in the play-offs?
