Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka took to social media to share encouraging news from his hospital bed following surgery on an injured hamstring.
23-year-old winger he withdrew during Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace before Christmas, limping towards the team manager on crutches. Medical staff of the club originally painted that Saka’s tendon had completely separated from the bone, an injury that would rule him out for the rest of the season.
However, the scans showed that the muscle was torn. Mikel Arteta subsequently confirmed that Shaka will be out for “more than two months” and that he underwent surgery at the beginning of this week.
After a successful operation, Šaka spoke publicly for the first time after his injury, posting an encouraging message on Instagram which reads: “Most see obstacles, but few see opportunities. Recovery has begun and I’m coming back stronger! Thank you all for your messages”
This is the first serious injury Handsenior career. The incredibly durable forward missed around a month of action between October and November with a similar muscle problem, but has never previously sat out more than 18 days with fitness issues.
From the burglary ArsenalFirst team during the 2019/20 season, Saka made 250 appearances for his youth club. The Hale End academy graduate became the third youngest player in Arsenal’s history to reach the milestone, trailing only Cesc Fabregas and David O’Leary.
The gunners are connected with several players as emergency replacements for their magic wing, most notably Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha, but whether a move can be agreed in the ever-testing January window remains to be seen.
