Victor Wanyama is joined by Dunfermline: former Celtic, Southampton and Spurs player reunite with Neil Lennon | Football news

Victor Wanyama told Sky Sports that “he couldn’t resist” the chance to join his former Celtic manager Neil Lennon in Dunfermline.
The 33-year-old signed for the championship by the end of the season after Lennon Took over last week at East End Park while offered to reject the club from outburst.
Wanyama played under Lennon in Parkhead, where he won consecutive league titles, plus impressed in Europe – he scored in the famous Champions League victory over Barcelona.
Its form resulted in moving to Southampton due to the then Scottish record fee of around £ 12.5 million, and the Kenyan international played for Tottenham for four years before moving to Montreal.
The Canadian club left in January, and after passing medicine on Wednesday, he returned to Scottish football for the first time since 2012.
“I got a call from Neil Lennon and the way he wanted me to get down and help, I couldn’t resist,” Wanyama told Sky Sports News.
“I also talked to the owner, he is very ambitious and I decided to come and have this challenge.
“He [Neil Lennon] Is he a little serious guy outside and he was always there for me, you know, trying to help me outside football.
“Once I got that call, I knew he was serious, I couldn’t resist because he was someone who played a big role and in my career.
“He taught me how to be a professional player, also outside the field, while he also shapes me as a player I am today.”
Subject to international approval, Wanyama will make his debut on Saturday against Ayr United, managed by his former captain Hoops Scott Brown.
“Scott is a great guy, and he also managed well as a manager, so I’m looking forward to going and dealing with his team. He’ll be fine. A bit like a fairy tale, but I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
“Scott was an example. It was an example to everyone, too to me. He was a leader and led her in a good way, and I’m always proud of him.
“I respected him. He pointed us on the road, all of us. I don’t think he gets the respect he deserves, but I keep him high as a player and now as a manager.”
Dunfermline is the second bottom of the table-six points pure than automatic outburst, but two points behind Hamilton Accies as they try to move out of a seven-game play-off site.
Lennon Excited Dunfermline Challenge
Lennon says he was forced to take a job with Dunfermline after a long conversation with the owner and president of the Championship Club.
Former Celtic and Hibernian boss, who was recently excavated last year on the Romanian side of Rapid Bucuresti, took over the East End Park until the end of the season.
He is the third permanent manager of Dunfermline of this term, with James McPake discharged in December, and Michael Tidser was fired earlier this month after only 60 days in the business.
While the 53-year-old knows that he is facing a real challenge to keep them in the second level of Scottish football, he insists that it was an opportunity he couldn’t refuse.
“Last week, we had a lot of conversations between ourselves, the president and the owner. They performed a very convincing argument to take over the job,” he said.
“There is an old proverb from Sir Alexa [Ferguson] Where you sometimes choose the owners and do not choose the club.
“So, I think we had a good one here. Further down the line, he has a really good pursuit of the club’s future.
“I wanted to reconcile with that.
“We have a lot of work to do, which will not happen immediately, but I had a good player response in the last two days. I am delighted with their attitude and application.
“It’s great to get back to football. I know how competitive and attractive championship is.
“I know we’re not in the best of a minute, so it’s a challenge for myself to turn the club’s psychology and locker rooms.”
