New Zealand suffered a major injury before the upcoming series with three match against Pakistan at home. Captain and Wickeket-Batter Tom Latham was excluded from the series because of the broken right hand, and the versatile Michael Bracewell was proclaimed a stand-in captain.
Tom Latham was supposed to run New Zealand in the OTO series against Pakistan, as Mitchell Santner decided to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, with Latham, he was excluded due to injury, black caps had to make changes. The first go from the series should take place on Saturday, March 29.

Disappointing to lose Tom Latham as a captain – Gary Stead
New Zealand coach Gary Stead expressed disappointment over the loss of Tom Latham as a captain. Stead also said that the side was in safe hands with Michael Bracewell’s leadership. However, he stated that it was an opportunity for others to reinforce.
