The Lithuanian army announced that four US soldiers and a followed vehicle had disappeared on Tuesday afternoon.
The United States Army announced that the vehicle used by four of his soldiers who disappeared into Lithuania was found in the water in the water as the efforts to search for the missing troops continued.
In a Wednesday statement, the army announced that “M88 Hercules is a recovery armored vehicle, four missing US soldiers who operated during the training exercise located in Lithuania.”
The army comments come after NATO secretary General Mark Rutte said at a press conference in Warsaw, Poland, that four soldiers had died in an “incident”.
“These are still early news, so we don’t know the details. These are really terrible news and our thoughts are with families and loved ones,” Rutte said.
The Lithuanian army said earlier that there was a search for four US soldiers and a followed vehicle that disappeared on Tuesday afternoon.
The army later wrote on X that she continued to “intensively” a rescue operation without confirming the death of American staff.
According to the US Army, soldiers trained near Pabrade in East Lithuania near the Border with Belarus.
“Soldiers, all from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, conducted tactical training at the time of the incident,” the army statement said.
