Referring to his own path, Pant revealed that his only dream was a childhood sports jersey, and IPL was never a priority for him. The Indian guard worked mercilessly to earn his place on the Indian cricket team, and hard work paid off when he made his debut at only 18 years.
It is significant that Pant made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils against the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and then debuted in India during the T20I series against England in 2017.
I never thought about playing in IPL: Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant said on Jiohotstar: “From childhood, I only had one dream: I never thought about playing in IPL. I think today people are more focused on the IPL. Of course, it’s a great platform, but I believe that if your goal is to play for your country, everything else, including IPL, will eventually fall into your place.”
The leftist further noted, “If you have a greater mindset, it will follow success. I always believed that one day I would play for India, and God was kind. At 18, I got the opportunity to debut and I am grateful for that.”

Rishabh Pant reveals why his bats flies from his hands
In the meantime, LSG skipper is known for his fearless shot and signature of one hand, often sending a stick flying from his hands. Now the pant has discovered that this is happening because it holds his lower hand slightly, using it mainly to support.
The pant further explained, “I think this is mostly happening because I hold the lower hand very lightly. I mostly try to use the lower hand to support because sometimes it starts to dominate. So, I focused on firmly catching the upper hand.”
Panto declares to continue his aggressive style
Indian stars also acknowledged that when surpassed wide or short balls, the shot is not always in the perfect zone of hitting. Despite the risk, Pant wants to continue his aggressive and instinctive game style based on the situation in the match.
He signed, saying, “But when I overpower, especially when the ball is too wide or too short, it is not always in the ideal zone of hitting. Sometimes, a shot I try can only have a success rate of 30-40%, but depending on the situation in matching, I am ready to take that risk.”
Significantly, Pant was recently part of an Indian team for trophies at ICC 2025. However, the Wicketeker star did not get any game because KL Rahul was preferred over the dough of swashbuckling.
