“Novak Djokovic. First in tennis. First in integrity. First in courage. Guess who won this match?” wrote a clerk of Trump’s cabinet.
Djokovic appeared as a polarizing figure during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic for his rejection to receive a Coid-19 shot. He was forced from Australia in 2022 after entering the country to play the Australian Open. He was one of the players who had the exemption to enter the country after being positively tested by Covid for weeks before the tournament began.

However, Australian border officials found that it was not eligible for entry. Djokovic’s case went to the courts and his visa was later canceled. He was removed from the tournament, but continued to beat him in 2023.
Djokovic did not complain about his decision to skip the Coid shot and advocate for his own principles.
