“Put us on the back leg”
Under the guidance of Mitchella Santner, the new Zealand National Cricket team locked the horns with the Indian National Cricket team under the guidance of Rohit Sharma in the conflict of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

We were defeated by the good side that appeared today – Mitchell Santner
New Zealand won the throw and, watching the conditions, he decided to hit the match first. They could not make the decision to the maximum, but they managed to publish a competitive total – 251/7 – on the Committee.
By brabbing, Kivi decimated Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and although they were able to dismiss it, other Indian blows increased and handed over black caps a loss of 4 walks.
Speaking during a presentation ceremony after the match, Mitchell Santner said they lost on a better side in Summit Clash, but that they were satisfied with the way New Zealand played throughout the competition. He said:
“It was a good tournament. We had challenges on the way, but we grew up as a group and we played a good crunch. We were defeated by the good side that appeared today. A lot of good things from our group, guys who are amplifying at different times and that’s all you can ask as a captain.
“(In slowdown during the middle number) it was a good bowling. We lost a few hickeys after Powerplay. The credit for the way their spinners ball, all four, world class. We had 25 below, but we had a total, we tried to fight and we did that.”
Mitchell Santner also praised Glenn Phillips to consistently create amazing moments on the field. He further said that Rohit Sharma had pressured them early in the stabs with his incredible knock.
“(On the Phillips Condition) he still does so. Powerplay was the best time to hit, Rohit and Gill have brought in, Rohiti’s inings were extraordinary and put us on the back leg, but we knew the game could change quickly and we continued to cut to Wikets and others in the game,” said Mitchell Sanner.
Mitchell Santner cut the rich praise for Rachin Ravidra for his heroes at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and signed that he was a great tournament for them. He elaborated:
“(On Raviddra) we saw how he appeared in these main events, he was overthrown with the ball and even GP. He realized his game at such a young age and even put pressure on India early. It was comfortable, made it easier for the group and I couldn’t thank boys enough.
How did New Zealand compete in his previous game ICC champion Trophy 2025 against India?
In his previous game ICC champion Trophy 2025 against Team India, New Zealand fought strongly at the Crket Stadium in Dubai on March 2. However, they lost a 44 ride match.
Deciding for Bowl first, New Zealand started great, reducing India on 30/3 inside the PowerPlay, rejecting Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill.
Pacer Matt Henry was the main gutter, while inserting a sensational exit with five winches (5/42). Kyle Jamieson, Will O’Rourke, Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravandra were inserted with Wickket, ensuring that India did not post a big result and stop them for 249 rides.
Chasing a target, New Zealand never found a rhythm because they lost Wickkette at regular intervals. Rachin Ravandra and Will Young fell early, while Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham couldn’t use their starts.
Kane’s starry dough Williamson appeared as Lone Warrior while inserting 81 runs of 120 balls before scoring in 41 places. Williamson looked in the middle after spending a while, but he missed his support from the other end.
From the middle and lower order, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner all fell on Varuna Chakravarthy, and the kiwi were eventually thrown out for 205 in 45.3 additions.
