Punching – New York Times
At a meeting at work last week, my colleague told the story of how she recently took her son, 17 years, to her first concert, Kim Deal in Brooklyn Paramount. She was so excited to blow his mind, to introduce him to the magic of living music she discovered at 15 when she first went to the rock show. How cool, I thought, imagining my son, forever when he asked “what was the first band you saw live?” Getting answered that he went with his mom to see a rock icon like a deal, a bassist and a frontman undeniably hip the band The Pixies and a breeder. This was created at the meeting by discovering the first band they saw at the concert.
Maybe more than any other part of the personal trivia, I find this fascinating. Learn about theirs Teen taste in music. If their parents took them, learn something about their childhood. (“Oh, he had a kind of parents who took their six -year -old to see Steely Dan!”) The first concerts of my colleagues were impressive: Duran Duran, Rem on the “Monster” tour. Mine was an English rock band Squeeze, 15 years, third row, Madison Square Garden.
And people like to tell you about their first concerts. It is a gem a box of questions, an invitation to discover something unique about themselves, to tell a good personal story. They have to convey as much or a little about your taste how comfortable you feel – “You see, I was always cool” or “God, look at what I was jerk.” It is the perfect pattern of this favorite form of corporate activities that are known: The Icebreker.
For the past few days, I spent an unannounced but completely convincing study of my friends’ feelings for Ledolom. Everyone, according to a person, hates them. I understand. On their face, exercises to build a team of any kind should be treated with doubt. The icebergs are intended for the release of people. How loosen it could be wise to ask, is it ever appropriate to come to work? We are going on a table that states our favorite breakfast cereals, harmless enough, but I’m not sure I want to discover anything more intimate of the whole marketing department.
But as much as they can be in a working context (is there anything humiliating from trying to hide “fun facts about yourself”?), I’ll defend a a good Icebreker as a wonderful shortcut to measured intimacy. In the last job I was running a weekly meeting of staff, I started every meeting with Ledolom. A good part of my team was removed, before the remote work was normal, and it seemed impossible to please each other without any false interventions. I may be fooled, but after the team members got to know each other a little, Ledolomi became a fun game of the salon, a way to get closer, recall that we were interesting, dynamic human beings even in the job matrix.
Referring to my icebreakers from these weekly meetings, I see in questions about notes that I have no idea how people closest to answered, and in the temptation I ask them. Some of these questions I have designed myself, some have come from the writer Bulletin of the Walkers “Arts of Local”, Some came from the team. “What is the first thing you bought with your own money?” “What have you been doing at 23 years?” “What is something you are great, but hate to work?” “What are the most common things that people say when they tell them their hometown?”
You may feel uncomfortable or artificially asked these questions in the midst of a regular conversation, but it may be fun to intentionally ask the icebreaker of your family at dinner or a group of friends you think you know or spouse. For those of us who understand the usefulness of small conversations but regret slowly, ineffective on getting to know how to get to know you, what do you do, what you do, any siblings? – Ledolas do exactly what they claim. You can wait for the ice to melt or you can only break it with a question that finds himself in something, a little interesting, a little reveals. And you don’t have to call them icebreakers. Outside of the corporate frame, icebreakers are just manifestations of curiosity. What do you really want to know about the person you are talking to? Why not just ask them?

Earl gray tea tea
For a not -too -sweet dessert that will stick well in the week, there is a damp and gentle Samantha Senevirati Earl Gray tea tea with dark chocolate and orange bark. Its subtle floral citrus scent comes from a loose tea of tea mixed in a dandelion dough for a cake, which is also liberally eroded by chopped dark chocolate. Serve thick studs after dinner or for a snack in the afternoon, preferably accompanied by a pot of Earl Gray tea.
