Not Dhoni, Kohli or Rohit! Sanja Samson reveals who helped him become a ‘good captain’
Star India National Crickket Team Wicketkeker-Batsman and skipper Rajasthan Royals (RR) Sanja Samson revealed who helped him become a good captain.
Sanja Samson also called for a major change in the rules in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to ensure that the personal relationships and players of the player are not influenced.

In interacting with Jiohotstar, Sanja Samson said that Jos Buttler, who was one of his closest friends, was shaped into a good captain in Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He added that the edition of Jos Buttler from the Rajasthan Royals department (RR) in front of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mega auction was one of the most challenging decisions he made.
“IPL gives you the opportunity to lead the team and play at the highest level, and it also allows you to build close friendships. Jos Buttler is one of my closest friends. Rajasthan Royals preferred Shimron Hetmyer over Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler had a great ride with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for franchise from 2018 to 2024.

However, despite his success, Rajasthan Royals (RR) released him from the team ahead of the Mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2025.
RR maintained Sanja Samson (INR 18 Crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (INR 18 Crore), Riyan Parag (INR 14 krur), Dhruv Jurel (INR 14 Crore), Shimron Hetmyer (INR 11 Crore) and Sand 4 Crore (in 4 Crowns).
They spent a total of INR 79 crowns in retention and preferred Shimron Hetmyer over Jos Buttler, which was drawn by a Gujarat Titans (GT) at a mega auction for a whopping 15.75 crown.

Although Samson will not have the support of Jos Buttler in IPL 2025, it will not be under great pressure because they will have a legendary Rahul Dravid at the camp, joined by Rajasthan Royals as a coach.
Talking about Dravid, Samson said he was very grateful that he saw a great return to RR and expressed excitement about working with him. He elaborated:
“Rahul Sir was the one who noticed me from the trial. He approached me and said, ‘Can you play for my team? “From there so far, with the franchise captain and he comes back – I am very grateful, as we are all in the franchise, that Rahul Sir has returned.
“I played under him [at RR] As a player when he was a captain, and I played under him in the Indian team when he was a coach. But the connection of the coach captain is very special and I am very much looking forward to learning a lot from him. He is a top professional and ensures that everything is done properly. “
