‘Nobody knows’ whether Man City will keep the captain, says Guardiola
Pep Guardiola says that “the happiest man on this planet” is when Kevin de Bruyne shines – but Manchester City manager cannot tell if the midfielder will stay at the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
De Bruyne set up the Equalist Nico O’reilly and scored the final goal of City in their 3-1 victory at home over second-team player Plymouth Argyle In the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, acting as a captain after one began and remained an unused replacement for two of their last five Premier League games.
“He is one of the three best players in the history of this club, without a doubt,” said Guardiola ITV Sport after the sevenfold winners of the competition remained on their way to reach the semi -finals in the seventh consecutive season.
“Every time he is doing well, I’m the happiest man on this planet, I’m sorry to tell you. He gave a lot of things to the team. He played really, really good today.”

Kevin de Bruyne contract
Ever since he joined City for a record fee of £ 54.5 million from Wolfsburg 2015 at the time, De Bruyne has won the Premier League six times, the Champions League once, Fa cup twice and EFL Cup five times.
The Belgian Playmaker signed his current contract as a two -year extension of the 2021 contract, but had tormented injuries during the last seasons and struggled to regain his best form 2024/25.
On Friday, Guardiola reiterated that the future of De Bruyne would depend on the conversations between the 33-year-old and the club, adding after the victory over Argyle that “no one knows” whether it will be his last season at the Etihad Stadium.

Last summer, De Bruyne said he was “open to everything” and spoke of a huge wealth on offer if he joined the characters of former teammate Aymer Laporte in Saudi Pro League.
“He has had problems in the last year and a half, like many players,” Guardiola said earlier this season. “This is how he will perform for us by the end of the season. His year and those things … The club has to think about it.”
Man City Fa Cup Record
The Spaniard seemed to submit a proposal that FA Cup was the only trophy city that can win this season as an opportunity to defend his part in the competition.
“No team was [so many] times in a row in the semifinals, “he said.” We will see the draw and what is happening. “
The third -ranked Nottingham Forest, which hosted Ipswich Town on Monday (7.30pm) in the fifth round, is the only team on a higher city league than the city still involved in this season’s FA Cup.

When is the quarterfinals of the FA Cup 2025 draw?
The draw will take place on Sunday, March 2, after United tried to earn a third victory over Fulham this season when Cottagers visits Old Trafford.
That game begins at 16:30, so the earliest draw potentially took place around 6:30 pm.
All connections from the first round of the competition must be resolved on a day, so there may be additional time and penalties if the result remains at a level, which would encourage approximately drawing time in the past.
