Hundreds of thousands of people are left without electricity in Australia after the cyclone brought wild time to the eastern coast.
Communities of Southeast Queensland and northern new southern Wales (NSW) began cleaning Sunday after the storm caused wide floods and demolished transmission lines and trees.
The body of a 61-year-old man was recovered from flooding waters on Saturday, while in a separate incident, 12 soldiers were taken to a hospital after their convoy collapsed on their way to rescue.
The storm weakened until she made a mainland near Brisbane on Saturday night, but Prime Minister Anthony Albanese warned the locals on the continuous wild time and the risk of floods on Sunday.
“The situation in Queensland and the northern new southern Wales remains very serious due to floods and strong winds,” Albanese said.
“It is expected that heavy rain, harmful winds of wind and coastal surfing will continue during the coming days.”
The Alfred cyclone floated for days by the days near the eastern coast of the country as a cyclone of the category two before weakened on Saturday into a tropical depression.
By Sunday night, emergency services made a dozen rescue in Queensland and NSW – which most involved people trapped in growing waters in their cars or homes. The NSW Emergency Service reported that he had received more than 6,000 call calls.
Almost 290,000 real estate in the affected regions is left without electricity, and energy companies have warned residents that the darkenings could persist for days.
Police said on Saturday that they had discovered the body in search of a 61-year-old man who disappeared on Friday after his car was caught in flood waters in Dorrig, northern NSW.
The ambulance respondents testified that the man was running away from the car and climbed to a tree near the river bank, but the rescuers failed to reach him before they pulled him.
In a separate incident on Saturday, 12 soldiers were injured in a convoy collision in Lismore, about 200 km south of Brisbane, because they were on their way to rescue and recovery.
The soldiers were still in the hospital on Sunday, two of which are in a serious state, Prime Minister New South Wales said at a press conference.
“We want a quick recovery for all these young soldiers,” he said.
Queensland police authorities have announced that they have not recorded any deaths or missing people in the country so far as a result of a time event.
