Trainee Jockey Levi Williams is charged with killing a 71-year-old man.
On Saturday, March 8, the police were invited to Newmarket High Street at 3.40 pm after a quarrel report involving four people nearby and two men were later taken to the hospital.
One of the males, 45 years old, was discharged from a hospital in Cambridge later that evening, but the other remained in a critical state and then passed away on Tuesday at the Addenbrooke City Hospital.
Williams, who was arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm and then left to be accepted on Tuesday.
A 25-year-old from the Holland Park, Newmarket, appeared before the court of the Ipswich magistrate on Wednesday charged with murder, where he was detained on Thursday, March 20th to a preliminary hearing at the Crown Court Cambridge Crown.
In a statement, the Suffolka police confirmed: “The 23-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily injuries; and a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of being inserted; both remained on a police bail until June 5 and June 9.”
Williams, who has 12 winners in his name from 156 rides on British soil, has not participated in any race since they were handed over 18 -monthly suspension after testing a positive cocaine – a sanction expired in November 2024.
This was the second BHA ban for the use of prohibited substances, after a failed cocaine and cannabis test in 2021.
