James says Chelsea headed “step in the right direction” while Maresca praises the captain
Chelsea Captain Reece James says his side has taken a “step in the right direction” after being defeated by Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League.
Blues cruised by a 2-0 lead from home, thanks to the goals of their skipper and Enza Fernandez in the second half.
But it was a little disappointment with full -time with the hosts who returned to the game.
This means that he will head to Stamford Bridge with hope that he will pull a miracle, but James sees the result as a positive.
Speaking after the game, he said: “There is a big step in the right direction. Arriving here is a difficult place to leave, and the atmosphere was amazing.
“They set up well and it is always frustrating to recognize so late in the game. Our goal was to keep a clean sheet and we couldn’t do it, but we got a win.
“It’s always good to score a goal and help the team and fortunately we got a win. We know it’s another huge game [next week]We need to win and want to improve and win in this competition. “

The main coach of Enzo Maresca, on the other hand, was delighted with the result, especially James’ performance, hinting that he could change his position in the future.
He added, “I see Reece as a midfielder. From the first day. I sent him a clip when he was on vacation about how he could be midfielder. He played in a full back, a central defender, so the main target for us to hold him in shape.
“We know how important it is for us. He is our captain, a fantastic player. We need to suit him, so this is our duty, our target, because it will surely help us. It can play in many positions because good players can play in many positions.
“It was a somewhat messy goal. We can avoid it. It’s football, it can happen. Now 90 minutes it’s over and now we have 90 minutes against them.
“The main game for us is a Sunday game at home and we need our fans 100 minutes behind the team and pushing the team.
“If we can win against Leicester on Sunday, we can take another step to the end of the Champions League, (whether) Top four or best five, I don’t know.”
