Despite the fact that BCCI awarded an additional INR 2.5 crown, Dravid refused an additional amount and instead decided to take the same share as the rest of the auxiliary staff.

At that time, the BCCI gave the entire team a total prize of 125 crowns, after India ended the 11-year-old waiting at the ICC trophy by defeating South Africa in the finals. Now, with Gautam Gambhir, the Gavaskar questioned whether to follow the same principle.
