IPL 2025: Delhi capital appoint Axar Patel for Captain

In a significant move in front of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025,, Delhi Capitals (DC) announced the appointment Axar Patel as their new captain. The 31-year-old versatile, with a franchise since 2019, has taken a leading role after the departure of Rishabh Panto to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Patel, known for his versatility as a left-handed dough and a bowler of his left hand, has played a key role over the years in Capitals. In his 82 DC match, he scored 967 running and picked up 62 Wickskete at an impressive economical rate of 7.09. His appointment indicates a new chapter for the franchise, which seeks his first IPL title.

Patel’s leadership experience includes captaining his state team, Gujarat, in 23 matches in format, and also ran the capital in one IPL match earlier. In addition, he was declared an Indian Vice -President of T20I earlier this year, which further emphasizing his growing credentials.

The capital cities begin their IPL 2025 campaign against the LSG on March 24 at the Krixket Stadium Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Aca-Vdca in Visakhapatnam. With Axar at the helm, the team wants to bounce off the disappointing previous season and pressed the title strongly.
