Intel (Intc) Said he plans to restore the opening of two chips -making facilities currently under construction in Ohi.
The relaxed chip manufacturer is now expecting two plants at his campus Ohio One to end the construction of 2030 and 2031, the Chief of the Global Intel Global Operation said on Friday in an open letter to employees. A year ago, the company said its goal was to finish construction on a project of $ 28 billion in 2026 – it is already a delay from the original goal of 2025. Intel interrupted the country on the project 2022.
“While we continue to invest on our US websites, it is important that we reconcile the start of the production of our fiction with the needs of our business and wider demand on the market,” Chandrasekaran said. Construction could be accelerated in the future “If the demand of customers ordered,” he added.
Delaying comes because Intel’s jobs with the foundry was the subject speculation about acquisition. Tsmc (Tsm), the world’s largest chip manufacturer, has allegedly considered taking over some or all Intel’s chip plants as part of a consortium of investors or other structures. Separately, Broadco (Avgo) also allegedly sought the purchase of Intel’s design and marketing.
Intel’s shares were slightly changed in extended trading on Friday after close to 3%in the regular session. In the last 12 months, they have lost close to half of their value.
