Indian wells: Jack Draper has to ‘get over’ the beating of Carlos Alcaraz to face Holger Rune in the final | Tennis news

Jack Draper can’t stay to celebrate a big victory over Carlos Alcaraz while faced with Holger Rune in the finals in Indian Wells, live on Sky Sports Sunday from 8.30pm.
In Saturday’s semi -finals, Draper scored one of his most significant career victories when he overcame Alcaraz, champion Wimbledon, who is a double winner in Indian Wells.
The British beat Alcaraza 6-1 0-6 6-4 to reach the finals after Rune 12. Seed in this competition, beat Daniil Medvedev in flat sets, 7-6 6-4.
Drape’s victory first sends him to the ATP Masters 1000 finals and ensured that he will enter the top 10 of the world 10 for the first time.
“He feels amazing,” Draper said Sky Sports. “I have gone through so many last few years with injuries and failures.
“I feel amazing, but I have another one.”
He added: “You have to overcome victories as today, and all my focus and energy is to do all the right things to give myself the best opportunity to win the tournament.”
It is a point in his career that Draper, who reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year, was determined. He wants to continue this race.
“I went through a lot in my few years with playing, and especially the last injuries and a lot of hard work to always try to return to a decent level,” he said.
“At the end of last year, I obviously had good results, but I want to really achieve consistency and reach the point where in the biggest tournaments I push these top players in the world.”
Draper is now enjoying the finals against Rune, triggered by the defeat of an elite player like Alcaraz.
“It will give me so much confidence,” he said. “Obviously every day he comes, you feel different.
“Against the best players in the world, they can change my momentum very quickly. I lost myself there for 25 minutes, but in the third I was really proud of my competitiveness, my attitude and somehow managed to get over the line.
“I thought I would feel really energized [on Saturday] After a day off, but somehow I felt the opposite. I’ll be more aware of that.
“Aware of how I feel today, and then I’ll make sure I get up to the finals even more, so that doesn’t happen.”
