Husband of former ‘Detachment’ of Ambassador Cori Bush charged with wire fraud

Husband of former US ambassador Cori Bush, a Democrat MissouriHe is charged with the deceivement of the Government after allegedly accepting $ 20,000 from payments from the salary and economic injuries to protect the pandemic salary, the Ministry of Justice said.
Cortney Merritts, 46, from St. Louisa, forged the details of his cited companies to get loans from the administration of small businesses in 2020 and 2021, federal prosecutors said on Thursday.
He is charged with two points wire fraud.

“Mr. Merrrits intends to declare that he is not guilty of charges,” said Merritts’s lawyer, Justin Gelfand of Margulis Gelfand Diruzzo & Lambson, in a statement. “As in any indictment, this is only a government version of the story. We look forward to the dispute of this case in Federal Court in Washington, DC “
Merrrits repeatedly applied for business loans for a company he said he had acted, and allegedly mistakenly represented his revenue and number of people he hired, the authorities said.

One request for a loan since July 2020 was rejected because it was almost identical to the one he had previously filed, prosecutors said.
Merritts was charged a year after the Ministry of Justice opened an investigation into Bush, a former member of the “team” for paying the campaign to his husband.
Bush was defeated last year in the middle of a controversy for criticizing Israel on October 7, 2023, attacks on its citizens by Hamas terrorists.
