Hundreds of people have participated in the biggest anti-Hamas protest in Gaza since the war with Israel began, going out to the streets to ask for the group to leave power.
Masked Hamas militants, some armed with weapons, and others who wore sticks were intervening and forcibly scattered protesters, attacking several.
Videos were broadly shared on social networks by activists who usually critical of Hamas showed young men who marched the streets of Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, singing, “Exits, Hamas Out”.
Pro-Hamas supporters defended the group, diminished the importance of demonstrations, and accused participants of being traitors. Hamas has yet to comment.
