Loved, longtime Fox News Channel Cameraman Craig Savage died on Sunday at 61 years after a brave battle with cancer.
Savage was joined by Fox News on October 3, 1996, four days before the net started and played a key role in her success. Executive Director Fox News Media Suzanne Scott and President and Executive editor Jay Wallace shared heart news in a letter from staff on Monday morning, calling Savage “Pioneer force” in the network.
“Shortly after joining the network, Craig’s exceptional skill and creative eye quickly recognized our then Washington Chief Kim Hume, who awarded Craigo the White House unit, a role he honored during his career here,” Scott and Wallace wrote.
“An integral part of numerous major events in the history of Fox News Channel, helped recording our first presidential interview with then President Clinton, after which he was involved in almost every presidential interview,” Scott and Wallace continued. “He also led the Fox floor camera at the 2000 and 2004 presidential conventions – an extremely challenging job that he really enjoyed.”

Scott and Wallace noticed that Craig’s versatility was critical as part of the White House unit.
“He was at the forefront of the industry evolution from analog to digital, overcoming complicated transitions on guided lighting. He continued his reputation there as a award -winning photographer and was dedicated to perfecting the paintings he produced for informative programs, including everything from choosing in wars and only refined in wars.
“It was his courage to solve the problem that made a person’s trait for any complex challenge, mainly when it comes to securing impeccable living shots from the White House,” Scott and Wallace continued. “In one notable case, Craig decided to act as an engineer during a big trip to the Fox News pool when then President Clinton visited Africa, deciding to help our very young team to perform a huge task instead of traveling in his traditional role, which would allow him to go to Safari and have a historic place in Africa.

Savage was also crucial during then President George W. Bush 2003 to Iraq to visit Than Thanksgiving there and was awarded to the concealed trip of President Trump to Afghanistan on Thanksgiving with Trumpets in 2019.
“His concealment and expertise in providing shots in the strictest conditions was a witness to his skills and dedication,” Scott and Wallace wrote.
In recent years, Craig has accepted the sky as a pilot of drones, contributing to hundreds of hours of flight hours for the efforts to collect news Fox News about stories moving from the southern border to natural disasters.
“He really left an indelible mark on Fox News and shaped the career of many,” Scott and Wallace wrote.

Savage survives his wife, Fox News, older producer Anne Marie Riha, his sons Jake, Andrew and Maxwell, daughter -in -law Alex, his stepfather Zachary and Carly Norins and his granddaughter Sloan and Evanger Savage.
