F1: McLaren’s Piastra wins Chinese Grand Prix with Norris Second | Moto Sports News
McLaren dominates the Shanghai race, because the Mercedes driver Russell ends the third and Ferrari’s Hamilton Six.
The Australian Oscar Piastra ran from disappointment in the season in his home race by winning the Grand Prix of Chinese Formula One from Pole position in McLaren One-Two with a teammate run by Lando Norris championship.
George Russell finished third for Mercedes, ahead of the ruling Red Bull champion, Max Verstappen, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and the winner of the Sprint race Lewis Hamilton Peto and Six in Shanghai on Sunday.
Piastra’s victory rejected Norris’s third win in a row, including last year’s season, but left champion McLaren undefeated in two races so far this year.

“He passed the incredible weekend, the car was pretty mega,” Piastra said.
“Very, very happy. It was hardly a much better tire than everyone expected, so going to the end was a little surprise, but a happy surprise.”
Norris had to deal with the problem of late brakes that forced him to settle for another, not to cause his teammate.
The British continues to lead the championship after two racing weekends on 44 points from Verstappen to 36.
Russell left another and he knew it was necessary to try to grab the lead from the line.
Instead, Piastra squeezed him on a long first bend complex, allowing Norris to go into another.
Both Ferraris went to Verstappen on the same bend, moving the world champion from fourth to sixth place.
Leclerc lost some of the front wings when he was brushing Hamilton’s right wheel, but that did not affect his pace.
Hamilton was the first of the front runners to dive for a new tire in Circle 14.
Everyone else followed heavy tires, and Russell went to Norris to Mela.
But McLaren showed a top pace and finally straightened up with the help of Drs.
Hamilton began to fight on a hard junction and allowed her teammate in Circle 21, releasing Leclerc to go after Russell.
In Circle 38, Hamilton had to score again for the new tires, lowering him behind Verstappen.
The front five remained outside because it became clear that she would try to make hard tires by the end of 56 laps.
Verstappen nurtured the tires throughout the race, allowing him to have a late charge on Leclerca and passed Ferrari at the beginning of Circle 54.
Haas ended up with two cars in points because Esteban Ocon was seventh and Novalija Ollie Bearman 10.
Other scorers of the points were teenager Mercedes Kimi Antonelli on the eighth, and Alex Albon Naveth in his Williams on his 29th birthday.
