North America plays the host of the world’s largest history in the history of 2026, with more nations than ever before competing on the biggest football stage.

For the first time in the history of the World Cup, 48 teams will compete in the tournament. From 1998 to 2022. The World Cup was a tournament in 32 teams.

Australia and New Zealand competed in the same World Cup only once before (2010).
The first 48th World Cup will be held in North America, and all matches in the US, Canada and Mexico in the tournament. 11 of the 16 places playing hosts are in the United States, and also host three Mexican and two Canadian cities.
2026 is the first North American World Cup since the United States held the 1994 tournament, and the first was held in three countries.
The Metlife Stadium, the home of the New York Giants and Jets, was selected as the host of the finals on July 19.
