Thomas Tuchel wants to restore the excitement for England players after saying that they burdened him by pressing him and “played not to lose” on the Euros.
England fell at the last obstacle for the second European Championship in a row last summer under Gareth Southgate, ending the winners in Spain after a series of appearances.
Tuchel was given the task of helping the team to take the next step and end what will be 60 years without a big trophy with a World Cup victory next year – but says they will do it that players have to get freedom to express themselves.
“Looking at euros, I felt the tension and pressure on the players,” Tuchel said, in front of the World Cup qualifiers against Albania on Wembley on Friday.
“He felt that they were playing not to lose and add more pressure [rather] of [with] Excitement that something special happens. We have to turn that.
“I want us to play with excitement, hunger and joy to win,” he added. “Acceptance of failure is part of this in football. You want to apply that communion and joy that everyone feels safe to express themselves and do their best.
“Play with joy to win, not fear to lose.”
‘We have to make sure everyone knows his role’
Asked how to create that opportunity for players, Tuchel said that he rests on the structure and understanding of each player in connection with their necessary role – something that suggests that it was lost in Germany in the midst of the system changes during the tournament.

“Good energy, a good atmosphere. That’s what I love most – to be around players and implement ideas on the field and adapt to your characters, forces and talent. It was very good for now.”
Tuchel says players have to continue the relationship while with the clubs
However, Tuchel also says that the work of the Squad to continue outside Friday in the game with Albania and Monday at a match with Latvia, if he will be successful at the World Cup next year.
“We only have six campsites and that is why I was so strong in the point to connect with each other,” he said.
