England: Thomas Tuchel says that Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden knows what three lions of coaching staff want | Football news

Thomas Tuchel says he will not drop players based on performances in the early days of his term as a manager of England, after making a lack of influence of Marcus Rahford and Phil Foden in his first game in his first game.
The couple replaced Jarrod Bowen and Anthony Gordon after a 74-minute victory of 2-0 over Albania, both struggled to show their best at Wembley.
Speaking after the opening of the World Cup qualifiers three lions, Tuchel said: “I think both of our wings that have started [Foden and Rashford] They were not as influential as they can usually be, or as are usually in club football.
“I’m not too sure at the moment why we fought to bring them the ball faster and bring them the ball to more open positions. I have to review the match.”
At his press conference ahead of the visit to Latvia at Wembley on Monday night, German wondered if he had talked to Rashford and Foden about what he expects from them to go forward.
“I talked to both of them, also in front of the group. They know I appreciate the effort, especially outside the ball,” Tuchel said.
“In numbers, we can also see when we look at the match again how much effort they put in the defense of the high and in the counter-press, also in their sprinter numbers.
“Marcus had a lot of running when we had a ball, where we didn’t see it, where we didn’t use it. He was a little unhappy, maybe over time. From time to time we monitored him. Phil may have just found a momentum in the moment he could have.
“But they are both very positive, they have every right to be positive and know exactly what we want from them. In ideal, we try to bring them to multiple situations one on one and ideal case have confidence that they take one on one.
“Phil may need a little closer to connection with no 10 than we could give in this match. Marcus also created a great opportunity for Jude Bellingham, and, as I said, he had a few running from the ball where we didn’t use it.
“But, from the ball, the effort was there and that counts.”
Tuchel suggested that he could arrange a similar team against Latvia and that the couple would not be punished.
“That could help and I don’t think it’s a problem to do just that and start with the same lineup,” he added. “But it is also not a problem to change because we have some players who really deserve to play, and it would be nice to see them perform and give them confidence.
“At this point, no one will be dropped from the performance point of view. We did what was needed. We can do better and have things to improve and focus on it. If we think some fresh legs can help, then we are not ashamed to do it. But no one should be rejected because they are not good enough.”
