The video, which has been viewed a million times, only shows Duterta who speaks and seems to have been recorded on the plane that translated him to the Netherlands on Wednesday and Icc in The Hague.
“I am the one who led our implementation of the law and the army. I said that I would protect you and I would be responsible for all that,” Duterte said in the video posted on Facebook pages of a close advisor.
“To the police, the army, I said it was my job and I am responsible,” said the 79-year-old, who became the first Asian former head of the state to appear before the ICC.
“This will be a long legal procedure. But I tell you, I will continue to serve my country. And so, if that is my destiny,” he said.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” he told his supporters in more than a two -minute clip.
Duterte was detained on Tuesday after arrest in Manila.

Lawyers and academics said that arrest and transfer were a big moment for the ICC, which was targeting the United States Government with sanctions for issuing an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoava Gallant – who were charged with war crimes in Gaza.
Kina, however, warned ICC of “politicization” and “double standards”, saying that he “carefully monitored” Duterte’s case.
