Dundee VS Rangers: Tony Docherty believes that the derby pattern can help with the survival of Scottish Prime Minister | Football news
Dundee manager Tony Docherty hopes that his side will be able to “repeat” his heroes on Saturday in his offer to survive the Scottish Premiership, because on Saturday they welcome “different” Renjers to Dens Park, Live on Sky Sports.
The victory of Dark Blues 4-2 over the Dundee United rival was their first victory in the league of January 5, which led them five points away from Bott Club St Johnstone.
Docherty’s side is 11th place in the league, but they managed to hold both Old Firm clubs to get home at home this season.
“We have a huge lifting, sometimes it’s more than a victory,” he told Sky Sports News.
“We scored six goals, two were rejected by VAR, but it was a great effect, and I think the performance that is synonymous with this group of players when everyone was fond of and available.
“It’s just a real jump about the group. We’re in a good place and we look forward to a real tough game against Rangers, but we got well against them in the league this season.
“If we can repeat that level of performance we have entered in the derby with eight games to go, this is what we are looking for.”
Saturday’s opponents Rangers enjoyed their own victory in the derby, as the winner of Hamza Igamane in the 88th minute earned the first victory over the Celtics rivals in almost four and a half years.
Barry Ferguson will now head to Dens Park for the first time as the main coach, hoping to achieve the first victory of his club on the field since November 2023.
“Now he’s a different X -ray, Barry Ferguson has come in and he has a good experience with Billy Dodds and Neil McCann,” Docherty added.
“They went in well, they did what they always do as temporary, they somehow changed things, they changed their shape, changed the training regimen and had a reaction from the players.
“These are two really good teams. It’s an exciting and challenging game for us, but these are two teams in shape and we hope to serve a cracker.”
Dundee Lyall Cameron midfielder has signed a contract with Rangers and Saturday will increase against its future teammates.
The 22-year-old Academy graduate has missed the last encounter with the Ibrox Club, but will be available for selecting this time.
“It’s not difficult at all, my relationship with Lyall (Cameron) is a top drawer and he’s a great boy,” Cameron’s manager said.
“He will give everything for this football club, as you have seen from his performance in the derby. He lost his goal excluded against Dundee United via Var.
“I think every Dundee fan has seen his level of commitment.
“He wears a knock and we are currently managing that knock on his Achilles, but now he trains with a team, and is more than available at this point and immediately for Saturday’s game.
“So, I think everyone will see a real dedicated Lyall Cameron who gives everything for the Dundee football club, and I expect it to do it by the end of the season.”
