Atheistic worker for City of Denver, ColoradoHe claims to have been discriminated against and eventually discharged from work for lack of belief in God.
Austin Ray claims in his appeal that two months after being hired by the Transport and Infrastructure Department, he was harassed by his religious views at a staff resting party.
The complaint states that the assistant manager of the department, a woman named “Carmen”, repeatedly asked Raya, atheist, if he believed in GodIn the presence of three more department employees.
Despite trying to reject her questions, Carmen “constantly insisted” that Ray answered the question, according to the appeal.

“Carmen prominently included the atheist attitudes of Mr. Ray, and deeply offended and humiliated Mr. Ray in front of the administration of the departments and his peers,” the appeal said.
Ray allegedly reported this discrimination and harassment of the officials of the City Human Resources Department in two separate occasions, as well as the supervisor at the request of the Human Resources Officer.
The discharged worker said he had taken him to believe that the city would take measures against misconduct. However, he claims that he began to face the retaliation of his manager for reporting on harassment.
The appeal states that Ray’s manager changed his work duties, forced him to do “meaningless tasks”, isolated him and alienated him in the ward and “threatened” his ability to do his job.
The manager “went to a large extent that Mr. Ray would not have been able to do his job,” the appeal said.
March 15, 2024. Ray was allegedly abruptly discharged from work after not receiving the city’s monitoring for his harassment report. In the complaint, he says that Ray was not subject to any disciplinary procedures to the point of his termination.
“Different treatment and hostility in which Mr. Ray was exposed in the city was both resting and discriminating in nature, because the mistreatment of his multiple protected activities in appeal on discriminatory practices, as well as his atheist beliefs,” the appeal said.

His lawyer claims that Ray is entitled to financial damage and fee for temptation, claiming that he was retaliated, discrimination based on religion, harassment based on religion and enemy work environment, all in violating the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
