Dangerous malicious software targets you via a false loan application

Spiloan apps are everywhere and Yet people are constantly falling on them. They promise simple loans with flexible repayment, but what they actually do is steal your personal information, including contacts, sensitive images and files. The moment you take a loan, they begin to blackmail you using your own information against you.
Some of these apps do not interfere with the borrowers. They just catch your data and start upset. One such application made rounds in the Play Store, raising more than 100,000 downloads and bringing thousands of Android users to the risk of blackmail and extortion.

As Spilend malicious software is spreading and leads to fraud and extortion
Spylend spread by presenting as a credible financial management tool, “Finance Simplified”, at the Google Play Store, as he reported Bleelingcomucputer. He attracted financially vulnerable individuals offering fast loans with minimal documentation.
The application increased from 50,000 to 100,000 downloads in one week despite red flags in user reviews on harassment and blackmail.
After downloading, the application requested excessive permission far more than what a typical financial application would need, including access to contacts, SMS messages, call records, photos and location information. This enabled the malicious software to quietly collect personal information from user devices.
The stolen data encouraged the vicious cycle of fraud and extortion. Spiloan apps like Spylenda lubricate users with attractive loan conditions, just to use their data for predatory borrowing practices. If the users do not meet the repayment requirements, the operators are arming their information by harassing them, blackmailing them by threat that they will leak private photos or contact their friends and family and create a climate of fear and coercion.
In some cases, extortion escalated to public shame or even creating a deep phase using stolen images, enhancing psychological and financial tribute on victims.
We reached out to this incident, and Google spokesman told us: “The application was removed from Google Play. Android users are automatically protected from the famous versions of this malicious software by Google Play Protectwhich according to the default settings on Android devices with Google Play Services. Google Play Protect can warn users or block applications that are known to show malicious behavior, even when these applications come from a source outside the game. ”
However, it is important to note that Google Play Protect may not be enough. Historically, it is not 100% stupid in removing all the malicious emerging software from the Android device.

Sensitive data stolen by the app
Spylend is a serious threat because it steals a huge amount of personal data. It is entered in the calls of contacts and the history of calls, read text messages, including banking warnings and capturing photos and videos from storage.
It also collects devices such as the model and OS version, follows the location in real time every three seconds, records the past locations and IP addresses, and even saves the last 20 copied texts from the clipboard. On top of that, it collects financial data such as the history of loan and banking SMS messages.
These stolen data is not only used for blackmail, as cyber -criminals are often sold. Assuming themselves on people who are already financially struggling, Spylend is at risk of almost every part of their digital life.
