Canadian Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, on Sunday presented $ 272.1 million in new funding for foreign assistance projects in Bangladesh and the Indo-Pacific region.
“Canada continues to fiercely strengthen our long friendship with Bangladesh and a across the Indo-Pacific region with our long-standing relationships of people,” Hussen said in a statement. “Supporting the health services of vulnerable communities, empowering women and resolution of climate change, tomorrow we create brighter for the global community.”
The money, which will be spent with contributions of other foreign partners and donors, will provide new funds for 14 different projects in Bangladesh and other countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
The movement of the Federal Liberal Government emphasizes a dramatically different Canadian approach to external development compared to the Government of US Republican President Donald Trump, which stopped financing through the International Development Agency for the United States (USAID).

One project is described as “Emping women in the care sector.” It includes an increase in financing of $ 6.3 million over three years for the Canadian Cowater International Company, the Government said.
The Canadian government assistance was personally announced by Hessen and a liberal member of British Columbia Parm Bains at an event in Vancouver attended by Bangladeshi’s leaders, just weeks before the liberal government could call the spring elections with a new leader.
