Anthony Joshua could be open to Joseph Parker’s rematch as he approaches “final cubes in his career,” says his promoter Eddie Hearn.
The British heavyweight category suffered a minor injury that extended his absence from the ring from a knockout defeat in the fifth round of Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September.
Hearn repeated Joshua’s desire for Dubois’s rematch or a blockbuster fight with Tyson Fury, who is currently retired, but the double world champion could also be open to the second fight against Parker in shape.
“Yes, he [Joshua] I had after a fight in Dubois, returned to the camp and was simply not ready to start hitting the same play that he needed, “Hearn said Sky Sports.
“So, I think there are two fights for aj that really fired a fire. One is a rematch with Daniel Dubois, and the other is Tyson Fury, who is currently out of our control, but we hope that something will start that fight, but it’s up to Tyson.
“So, if he doesn’t fight one of these two, he has to fight someone and want to fight someone in the first 10.
“And Joseph Parker is currently on one of the most interesting runs. I mean, if Dubois is not fighting (Oleksandr) Usyk, I would also like to see Dubois fighting with Parker, because I think Joe deserves a shot in the world title in a heavyweight category. But obviously, if necessary, it is going to do, and what will be in a unique partner.
Parker is a WBO mandatory challenger for Oleksandra USYKA after an impressive victory over Martin Bakole, Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder.
But his promoter David Higgins confirmed that Parker could fight Joshua next.
“I think the whole world would like to see him [Parker] Rovenian with AJ, “Higgins said Sky Sports.
“In my current form, I think Joseph Parker puts it to sleep.
“Our promotional partner is currently Queensberry, so the Frank Warren and Queensberry team will have a big word about it, but I don’t think anyone would have denied that if Parker is not crack against USYKA or Dubois, Aj-Parker is a blockbuster and the whole world would adapt.”
Joshua combined IBF and WBO belts with a unanimous victory for a decision over Parker in Cardiff in 2018.
Hearn confirmed that Joshua would be ready to return to the summer while planning the last phase of his career.
He said, “This is the last year. Let’s not be beat around the bush.
“It will have somewhere in between – that could always be your last fight – but one and three fights, that’s the reality of the situation.”
Can Fury Vs Joshua still happen?
In the meantime, the promoter Frank Warren said Sky Sports That he did not hold fresh conversations about Fury’s return of the ring.
“If he wanted to come back, that would be his choice,” Warren said.
“I, I wouldn’t talk to him about it.
“That should be his decision if he did. In the meantime, I just want him to enjoy his life, to his family, because he enjoys it.”
Asked about Joshua’s main goals, Hearn added: “I just want to see him happy, leave the sport with an incredible heritage, which I think has already been reached. Not only is he a double world champion in a heavyweight category, but he has changed the face of sports in this country.
“He directed the way to become the norm for these stadium struggles, and I think he inspired a new generation of young boxers to go through the door of the amateur boxer club.
“But he still loves sports, he still thinks he physically has a lot to give, so this is the last cube and we have to correct it, we have to be ready and it will be very exciting.”
