The growing proportion of American consumers says they are not looking for loans because they expect to be rejected due to tight credit conditions, according to the New York Federal Bank data.
The share of discouraged borrowers, defined as respondents who said they needed a loan but did not apply because they did not expect to get authorization, climbed to 8.5% in the last place of New York FedResearch by consumer expectations. This is the highest level since the study began in 2013.
The detained likelihood of rejection has increased in various forms of loans, from tickets to insured loans to buy homes and cars.
