Previously, a key group match between Afghanistan and Australia in the current ICC champion of the Trophy 2025 champion had to be abandoned due to freezing at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. A short 30-minute magic of rain during the Australian chase discovered a bad system of drainage stadium.
Despite the continuous efforts of ground staff – including the use of mops and sponges – the surface remained too moist, forcing the courts to deviate from the game after more than an hour of waiting. The bad drainage left players and fans frustrated because both teams had to share points.
