US Proponent, Law Conducting a Law Ljedna for Increased Security Focus on Fentanil
The implementation of the law in Minota, ND, about 85 kilometers south of the border of US and Canada, say they are happy that Canada increases safety measures to limit the flow of drugs between the two countries.
Monota police officers interviewed last week said it was difficult to determine exactly where medicines came from, but that more security measures could only reduce the drug supply. Last year, four of the seven overdose deaths in the city with about 47,000 people were associated with Fentanil.
“It would be naive to think that some of them do not come from Canada,” said Captain Justin Sundheim of the Minot Police Department. “We also know that some come from Mexico. You don’t know where it comes from, you just know it’s ends here.”
The Canadian promise to increase the security on the border helped to make a break up to at least 4th March for the 25th -after tariff, US President Donald Trump threatened to put all Canadian exports in the United States, Trump recently announced 25 percent of tariffs on steel and aluminum Entering force on March 12, which would be placed on top of any other tariffs that enter into force.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised $ 4.3 billion border security plans, includes 24/7 border supervision, a common strike by Canada-US and adding helicopters, drones and dog teams. Canada also invests $ 200 million to enable Canada public safety and stale communication security to collect information about organized crime to share with the USA
Data from the US Customs and Border Protection show that 19.5 kilograms of fentanis were seized on the US northern border last year, compared to 9,570 pounds on the southwestern border.
Kevin Purdue, program director of the Minot Area Recovery Community, said that any efforts to abolish drug supplies are a good thing.
“He can’t harm, every now and then he helps,” said Purdie, whose group he collaborates with people who are struggling with the disorders of abuse of substances.
“I know all hearts that addicts are very resourceful people when it comes to getting things, smuggling things.”
Purdue said that in recent years, Fentanil has been found in the form of tablets and sweets in the community and that it is increasingly hearing about people using opioid.
“It’s an epidemic,” Purdue said. “I know people who can find fentanil easier than they could find a bag of weeds.”
Minota police say there were 236 doses of opiates, depression and intoxicating drugs in the city of 2024.
