The ICC ICC 2025 ICC trophy hit another controversy after former English captain Michael Atherton questioned the Indian “advantage of the domestic” playing of all his matches at the International Crown Stadium in Dubai in Dubai, UAE.

The Englishman believes that this luxury gives men in a blue indisputable edge, because they can completely focus on defeating the conditions of Dubai without any trips or challenges of unknown terrain in the ICC champion’s current trophy.

Michael Atherton said at Sky Sports Podcast: “What is the benefits of India in Dubai, only in Dubai? Which seems to me a hard quality advantage but an undeniable advantage. They play in just one place. They don’t have to travel even between places Or, you know, as many other teams have to do.

He also pointed out that India already knows their semi -final place, which gives them an additional advantage in many aspects, which is completely unfair to other teams. Former English captain said the Indian Cricket team would be prepared under Dubai conditions, while other teams would not have that luxury.

It’s hard to quantify how big the advantage is: Michael Atherton

Atherton indirectly scored ICC for giving “too much advantage” to men in blue that he could not even quantify. He believes that ICC did injustice to other teams just because Rohit Sharma and his team refused to play in Pakistan.

He signed, saying, “And he will obviously know where they play their semi -finals as well as when they go through it. It seems to me that this is an undeniable advantage, but, you know, it’s hard to quantify how big the advantage is.”

It is significant that the Indian government did not give NOCS to BCCI that for safety reasons she sends the Indian team of the crislette in Pakistan because of the 2025 champion trophy. This led to a great delay in confirming the tournament status, and in the end ICC and PCB had to transfer the Indian matches to Dubai.

India, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia had to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy semi -finals

As India qualified for the semifinals, a knockout match will be held in Dubai, which will also host the Champions Trophy 2025 finals, if men in the Blue reach the Clash Summit under a hybrid model. Pakistan is already out of the semi -final race after losing the first two games.

Indian players are familiar with the conditions in Dubai, and they already have a strong team, they took the maximum with a win in the first two games against Bangladesh and Pakistan in the tournament to secure a place in the semifinals.

Significant is that from Group A, India and New Zealand they are safe, while Australia and South Africa from Group B are likely to move to the top-4 of the 2025 current champion trophy.
