Trans women, girls forbidden from female sports within the change of rules of NCAA | News Donald Trump
Transgere girls and women will no longer compete at women’s events at most sports events in the United States after the management body decision to ban athletes born men.
The National College of Athletic Association, the main management body for the United States, said on Thursday that they would limit competition in athletes for girls and females only on athletes born in women.
The NCAA announcement comes after US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to deny the financing of educational institutes that allow for transcords and women to compete in women’s sports.
“The NCAA is an organization made up of 1,100 colleges and universities in all 50 countries that collectively enroll in more than 530,000 students-athletes. We firmly believe that the clear, consistent and uniform standards of fulfillment of the conditions best served today’s students-sports students, instead of the suffering of conflicting state laws and court decisions, “NCAA President Charlie Baker said in a statement.
“For this purpose, the command of President Trump provides a clear, national standard.”
Baker said that change reflected the dedication of the body “to protect, support and improve the mental and physical health of the student-athletes.”
“This national standard brings over the necessary clarity as we modernize the faculty sports for today’s students,” he said.
NCAA is by far the largest management body for a college sport in the US, and more than 500,000 students are competing in their events every year.
Other major umbrellas of the organization, such as the National Association of Interkolegic Athletics (Naia) and the National Athletic Association of the Faculty of Junior (NJCAA), oversee competitions with less than 100,000 annual competitors.
The participation of trans women in sports has become political lightning in the United States, and the proponents of LGBTQ rights require greater involvement of trans athletes and critics, claiming that their participation is unfair to girls and women.
Public opinion polls have indicated growing public opposition to trans women competing against athletes born in women in the midst of high controversy who included athletes participation, such as a college of swimmers Lia Thomas.
Thomas, who was born a male and began therapy for the replacement of hormones in his late teenagers, won the NCAA Division National Championship and 2022 before forbidden from women’s events by world aquatica.
In a New York Times/IPSOS survey published last month, 79 percent of Americans said that trans women should not be allowed to participate in women’s sports, which is 62 percent in 2021.
Riley Gaines, a former college swimmer who joined the lawsuit against NCAA for his decision to allow Thomas to compete in women’s events, welcomed the announcement of the sports body.
“I can’t even start telling you how vindictive it is, knowing that no girl will ever have to experience what my teammates are and I did,” Gaines said on X.
Trump, who signed four executive commands aimed at Trans People, has repeatedly criticized the efforts to further include LGBTQ Sport and other areas of life during his election campaign.
During the ceremony of signing his executive order on women’s sport on Wednesday, Trump said his administration would “stand and watch men beat and hit athletes.”
LGBTQ of advocacy organizations broadly condemned Trump’s command as a discriminatory and not based on the facts.
“We knew that this day was likely to happen for a long time, because this administration continues to follow simple solutions for complex issues, which often results in animas towards the smallest communities in our country,” LGBTQ people in sports, according to a statement on Wednesday.
“Despite this executive order, we will continue to choose love, acceptance and curiosity with everyone who is interested in creating the future of sports in which everyone belongs.”
