Reporting from Orebbro
Victims of the worst mass shooting in Sweden were seven women and three men between the ages of 28 and 68, police said on Friday after the end of the identification procedure.
UU Tuesday was killed at the Adult Educational Center in Orebbro, about 125 miles (200 km) from Stockholm, in an attack that sent shock waves through Sweden.
All the victims lived in Orebro, but so far the authorities have refused to share their identity or any other details about them.
Police confirmed on Friday that the suspect was a 35-year-old man in the area. He was widely appointed in Swedish media as Rickard Andersson.
Anna Bergkvist, a police investigation manager, said the BBC on Thursday that Andersson had killed himself at school.
Police confirmed that the suspect legally owned four rifles, three of which were found at school after the attack with 10 empty magazines.
The Swedish coalition government on Friday announced plans to reinforce the Law in the country, which made it difficult to buy weapons and restrict certain types of rifles.
Victims have not yet been identified
In the absence of an official certificate of victims’ identity, information came out instead of through their families and communities.
Among them was Salim Ishker, a 29-year-old man who fled in 2015 from a conflict in Syria with his mother and sister after his father was killed there.
Isker studied at the Risberg Center, where an attack took place – a school popular with immigrants learning Swedish and other subjects.
Isker’s fiancé Kareen Elia, 24 years, attended a memorial service in Orebbro on Thursday night with his mother and other members of his family.
Jacob Kasselia, a priest in the Syrian Orthodox Church attended by Isker and his family, told the BBC that he was “simply a good man.”
“He didn’t ask for problems. He only showed goodwill. He was a member of our community,” Kasselia said.
Bassam Al Sheleh, a 48-year-old Pekar and a chef and the father of two, the Swedish media were also declared one of the victims of the attack.
He allegedly studied at the Risberg Center to improve his English.
Nacional of Bosnia and Herzegovina was killed and the other was injured, the Bosnian Foreign Ministry said, citing information distributed by Orebbro residents.
In the post on social networks on Friday, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristsson admitted that the event had caused fear among immigrant communities and urged people to “unite and stop behind everything we hold together.”
“My thoughts are with relatives who have now received a call that is the worst one can get. I want to say for you: You are not alone. We are standing beside you,” he wrote.
The motive of the attacker remains unknown. A video taken inside the building during the attack, and was posted by Swedish media to record someone using antimigrant feelings, but the power of the authorities were not confirmed as accurate.
Members of the Orebro -I immigrant communities in the Middle East have said BBC to feel vulnerable and take additional precautions in the days of attack.
Change into weapons laws
The Swedish Coalition of the Right Center, which relies on the support of the far -right party of the Swedish Democrats, said on Friday that she would seek to increase the check of shopping of weapons and ban certain types of weapons.
“There are certain types of weapons that are so dangerous that they should only be possessed for civilian purposes as an exception,” the statement said.
Prime Minister Kristesson, visiting Latvia, told reporters that the Government had to “ensure that only the right people had a weapon in Sweden.”
Swedish Democrats said it agreed with proposals to amend the law, including larger limitations to a semi -automatic weapon.
“The terrible act of violence in Orebbro raises several key issues on arms legislation,” the party states in a statement.
The AR-15, a special semi-automatic rifle style that is powerful and can wear large magazines, has singled out the government as an example of weapons that could be limited.
According to current Swedish weapons laws, anyone over 18 years of age who do not have a criminal letter can apply for a rifle permit, gun or semi -automatic rifle.
They have to justify the police why they need a gun. People over 20 years of age can apply for a special dispensation to own a complete automatic weapon.
About 580,000 Swedes have a permit for a weapon of about 10.5 million inhabitants, according to the Swedish Emitter Svt.
The 2017 Switzerland Study revealed that there are about 2.3 million rifles held in Sweden held by civilians. It is about 23 rifles per 100 people, compared to 29 in Norway and 120 per 100 in the US.
In order to obtain a hunting license in Sweden, a theory and a practical test is required. About 280,000 Swedes have one.
Sweden has a relatively high level of weapons ownership and weapons crime, according to European standards, although most weapons are legally owned and used for hunting.
The crime of weapons is generally associated with gangs, which they also took into the use of bombs to target each other.
The crime of weapons that are not in connection with the gang is less frequent, and Tuesday attacks the first shooting in the country and the worst mass shooting. A total of four people were killed in two separate stitches at school in 2015 and 2022.
