The progressive conservative party wins the third consecutive majority in voting dominated by trade tension.
The Canadian province of Ontario re -elected the ruling conservatives of Prime Minister Doug Ford in the elections that focused on trade tensions directed by the President of the United States Donald Trump.
Ford and its progressive conservative party (PC Party) cruised on Thursday to the third consecutive legislative majority after they sought the “biggest term in Ontario history” to protect the economy of the most populous province in Canada from Trump’s tariffs.
The PC party won at least 74 seats in the 124-member legislative assembly in Ontario, and on Thursday night it led in six other districts, according to the sum of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Ford, who often disputed “Canada for sale” and stylized as Captain of Canada during his election campaign, called a vote more than a year earlier, claiming he should have a stronger mandate for movement in four years of potential economic chaos under Trump.
During his election campaign, Ford has made two trips to Washington, DC, and has performed numerous performances on American networks like Fox News CNN to lobby against Tariff.
Trump, who agreed to a 30-day break on his endangered tariffs in Canada and Mexico, awaiting talks about the security safety, said Thursday that a 25 percent taxes would take effect on March 4.
Canadian and Mexican officials were supposed to meet on Thursday and Friday with the Trump administration officials in Washington to try to prevent tariffs, which could cause a serious blow to the highly integrated North American economy.
