Syrian Ahmed al-Sharaa visit Saudi Arabia on Sunday | News about politics


Syria’s leader will be in Saudi Arabia for two days, and is expected to discuss strengthening relations between the two countries.

Syrian de facto leader Ahmed al-Sharaawho was appointed President of the Transition Government at the beginning of this week, he should visit Saudi Arabia on his first foreign journey after taking his duty.

Sources in Syria said on Saturday Al Jazeera that Al-Sharaa would be in Saudi Arabia for two days, and is expected to discuss the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

The appointment of al-Sharaa followed after the opposition forces led offensive Against Bashar Al-Assad last December and ended his reign.

As a president, Al-Sharaa is also authorized to form a temporary legislative Council for the transitional phase that will perform its task until the new constitution is adopted.

King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent congratulations to al-Sharai after appointing to the president and wished him success.

Last month, Al-Sharaa told Al Arabiya TV that Saudi Arabia “would surely play a big role in the future of Syria”, pointing to “a great opportunity to invest for all neighboring countries.”

Last week, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, visited Damascus, promising help to ensure the abolition of international sanctions imposed during the reign of Al-Assad.

During a press conference after his meeting with Al-Sharaj, Prince Faisal added that Riyadh was involved in “active dialogue with all relevant countries, whether they are the United States or the European Union, and we hear positive messages.”

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani also traveled to Riyadh last month.
