Rubio says the acting of a USAID duties because State Department absorbs the agency

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that he is now the acting director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Rubio told reporters as he asked questions from the press in El Salvador.

“USAID does not work. It must be aligned with American politics. It should be aligned with the national interest of the US,” he said. “They are not a global charity organization these are dollars of taxpayers. People ask simple questions. What are they doing with money? We spend the taxes money. We owe a guarantee of taxpayers to add our national interest.”

“I am the acting director,” he confirmed to the question of whether he was chief now. “Our goal was to allow our side to help with national interest. It’s been 20 or 30 years. They tried to reform it. This will not continue.”

The USAID staff was sent earlier on Monday to stay outside the Washington agency’s headquarters after Elon Musk announced that President Donald Trump agreed with him to close the agency. Thousands of USAID employees have already been fired and the programs have been excluded.
