State Secretary Marco Rubio finished his first foreign trip through Latin America with a few wins on immigration, which is the main priority for the president Donald Trump.
The new American top diplomat returns home with a binder full of foreign government agreements on priority day to one for an interdiction Human and drug trading – Testament on how Trump’s administration has the economic strength of America.
“I think the fact that his first trip was in Latin America, I think it was a big statement in itself,” said Joseph Humira, Executive Director of the Safe Society Center (SFS).
He will then go to the Middle East, with plans for the visit of Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in mid -February after attending the Munich security conference. There is a wide part of even more challenging circumstances, including the concerns of foreign officials because of Trump’s newly established idea to “take” the Gaza tape, and the neighboring Arab states opposed to the insistence of taking us in Palestinians.

Before the secretary took off for Latin AmericaTrump’s administration has already achieved several wins. Colombia made a lightning face by accepting flights of deportations that carried illegal immigrants heading home from the United States. President Gustavo Petro initially rejected two flights carried by Colombian nationals, saying that he would not accept the return of migrant who were not treated with “dignity and respect” and who arrived environment or on military planes.
But Trump immediately threatened 25% of tariff on Colombian goods, and Petro accepted all US conditions, according to the White House, including the acceptance of migrants to military planes.
Rubio then started a regional tour in Panama last Saturday, a nation that was nervously waiting for him to see what his visit would own after Trump repeatedly invited the American download of the Panaman channel.
Trump claimed that the channel was basically under the supervision of the Chinese-based Konga in Hong Kong to control the input ports and charge America dishonest rates after being built by the channel and returned Panami in the 1977 contract signed by President Jimmy Carter .
After Rubi’s visit, Panama said he would not renew the initiative for the belt and the road (Bri) with China, An investment project that CCP uses to ensure influence in developing countries around the world.
“The matter of care was huge news,” Humire said.
“There are 22 countries in Latin America who have signed an agreement on the BRA. If we really pushes ourselves to it, many countries, especially those who are allies with us, will be reconsidering” their agreements with China, he added.

Rubio warned to Panama that if his government did not move to reduce or remove the squeeze of the CCP on the channel, now they would go.
According to the channel contracts, they now retain their duty to defend the channel if it comes under threat.

But Rubio hit the claim that State Department stated that Panama had offered a free passage through the American Navy vessels.
Panama President José Raúl Mulino then accused the US of spreading “lies and untruths” of his nation that offers a free passage now.
Then the secretary chased the request, calling the charges “absurd.”
“It seems absurd that we have to pay for the transit of the zone transit we are obliged to protect in a time of conflict,” Rubio said. “Panama has a procedure for the law and procedures that need to follow because it refers to the Panama port.”
In Costa Rica, Rubio offered The US helps fight drug trafficking crime wave and push on the Chinese influence, limiting development of CCP 5G technology in the country.
Then in El Salvador Rubio accepted the offer of President Trump’s Nayib Bukele to accept the deportation of any citizenship, including US criminals.

At the same time, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 Mexican forces to the US border after Trump agreed to delay the threatening 25% of tariffs on the export of her state in the US
Meanwhile, in Guatemala, President Bernardo Arévalo promised to accept 40% more flights of deportations and accept people of other nationalities.
“I think there is a lot of victories because of his previous relationships with the region, his team and, honestly, experiences and knowledge,” Humira said. “He is someone who can include them in their language and in his kind of mannerism.”
And, he added, Latin America saw “how serious” Trump is about deportations, observing the threats that the president has sent to Canada, Mexico and Colombia.

“I think we could get more clarity on the channel from Panama,” Humire said. “But I think we met a little resistance [overall]. “
Rubio was not the only Trump official to secure the victory of Latin America. Special Envoy Ric Grenell sat with Venezuelan President Nicolas Madur this week and returned home with six American hostages. The price paid, according to Grenell, the Venezuelan dictator gave a chance to photograph with an American diplomat for propaganda purposes.
Trump’s administration is now expecting a deportation flight to Venezuel to continue “within 30 days,” the border emperor Tom Homan for the New York Times, after Maduro previously refused to accept Venezuelan nationals from the USA from USA from the USA

“He’s in good politics,” Humire said. “[Maduro] Thought – they call it a daily row – they think they can restore, somehow restarting relationships with the USA basically good behavior, starting us to direct us toward their interests. “
“Grennell must be able to get things we need without giving a lot. And I think he achieved it,” Humire continued. “Photo -op, they will spin it, use it for misinformation. But it’s a small hill for bringing hostages home.”
