Red State AG promises a legal struggle with local self -government resistant to ice

The Attorney General Indiana Todd Rokita threatens to sue two local jurisdictions in his country that refuses to adhere to the president Donald Trump Program of mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
“Now this is a problem in Indiana, especially because there is a state of Indiana State I am implementing what you have to give, regardless of the level of cooperation, they are allowed by federal law, you will give it as a civil or local law clerk,” Rokita said Fox News Digital in an interview on Friday.
“And, so, that’s happening here. That defiance I have to look at now.”
The Metropolitan Police Directorate Indianapolis (IMPD) and public schools in Indianapolis (IPS) stated that they would not cooperate federal implementation of immigrationIncluding the craft for immigration and customs (ICE).

Chief Impd Chris Bailey said local police have no authority to implement the Federal Immigration Act and that he is not planning to participate in immigration difficulties. Similarly, IPS officials have announced that the district will not allow Ice agents on school basics without a criminal order.
“We still have pockets or chosen officials or those who work for elected officials, or some just themselves, who have their ideas about what the law should be – that means that the law does not follow,” Rokita said.
Rokita called IPS and Impd this week to cooperate with ICE or face legal consequences from their office. And it would not have been the first time he sued the jurisdiction in his country for not working with federal officials.

Last month, Rokita filed a lawsuit against Sheriff’s St. Joseph and his sheriff William Redman, citing a permanent rejection in accordance with the federal demand detention requirements. The lawsuit claims that between March and September 2024, nine requests for detained by ICE are not honored, interfering with the efforts of Ice to catch illegal immigrants in the county.
The University of Indiana and the local sheriff’s office refused to cooperate with the Federal Laws on Immigration, Rokita said: “So we will be in court and plan to get a ban against their bad behavior.”
