Stephen Bunting admits that his return to the Premier League was emotional and will continue to nurture every moment to be part of Darts’s biggest road.
The “bullet” had a long time had an army of fans, his presence on social media and walking to Siai’s ‘Titanium’, which was exponentially grown.
This increase in the star is correlated with Bunting, who plays the best arrows in his career for the last 18 months, which has shifted him to the world number 5 and earned an invitation to the Premier League for the first time in 10 years.
His return to the elite competition took place last week in Belfast and, during his walk, Bunting broke out a great welcome he received from the crowd, although he lost the match 6-4 to make Rob Cross.
The 39-year-old says he was blown away by the audience’s reaction to his arrival, but now that he had pulled out for the first time, he is ready to “nurture” which tournament he can offer every week.
“It was very emotional. I expected it was good, but I didn’t expect it would be as good as it was,” Bunting said.
“Only the whole crowd that supports me and I go behind me. It pulled me when I went on stage and tears started flowing.
“There was a 10-year trip to go back to the Premier League, so there was a lot of emotions anyway and it spilled a little anyway.
“The nerves were still there in the game and unfortunately I didn’t win.
“Obviously the first week there was no expectation and he just returned to big places with big crowds and got used to it again.
“Now that I had that monkey off my back, I’m just looking forward to the next few weeks.”
Starting at night two in Glasgow, Live on Sky Sports on ThursdayBunting faces the appearance of playing Michael Van Gerwen in his quarterfinals.
Van Gerwen was part of the classic classical premiere league when he beat Little 6-5 in Belfast, and St Helens man shows why he is one of the world’s worldwide champions world champions.
“I look forward to it. To be honest, I look forward to every week to play the Premier League now,” Bunting added.
“I have to nurture these moments, they are big moments in my career.
“Obviously MVG is a huge player. He was not there in Wigan [at the Players Championship] This week so they will rest well.
“I just struggle to go, I go on stage and hear the” Bunnting Army “cheering me.
“Emotions were there for the first week. I’m sure I’ll still be a little emotional with walking and things, but now I’m used to it and look forward to being pushing myself and playing my darts.
“Michael beating in Masters was a huge part of my career. It was one of the best victories in my career to the present day and nurture playing these big players.
“My game is a great place in a minute, so for me it’s a great match against the best players in the world and I feel like I’m one of the best players in the world in a minute.
“So, I have to keep doing what I do, keep my feet on the floor, keep emotions in the check and just look forward to the game.
“I’m sure the rest will take care of myself.”
