Player Championship Darts: Rob Cross wins the first event of 2025. After Luke Littlel lost in the last 32 | News Darts
Rob Cross beat Joe Cullen 8-3 to win the championship of the 2025 championship in Wigan after Littleler Littler lost in the third round.
Cross has won the Dutch Masters Darts last month and is one of the eight players in the Premier League, which continues in Glasgow this Thursday – Live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports+ from 19:00.
The former world champion mostly fought in the Championship series behind closed doors because he did not win the event since 2023.
“I’ve been unwavering for the last four months. I hit and missed, but when I find it, I can play some special arrows,” Cross said.
“After last year’s experience [at the Players Championship series]nice to win again. Sometimes I was lazy last year, but I was too stubborn and wanted to spend time with my family.
“I never won two titles at the beginning of the year. If I can deliver it when I don’t feel 100%, it’s just typical, is it!”
Cross won Rob Owen, Owen Bates, James Hurrell and Carl Sneyd to reach the quarterfinals, where he prevailed against Jermaine Wattimen to win 6-5 before winning Andrew’s gilding 7-3 in the semifinal.
The 34-year-old ran in the early 3-0 lead in the last finals, but Cullen returned to 3-2. However, Cross won five of the next six legs to ask for the second title on the PDC circle this year.
Cullen wins Littlera, Humphories before he appears
On Monday, Cullen produced his best darts in 2025 on Monday on his way to runners in Wigan.
The man was nicknamed “Rockstar” passed by Greg Ritchie and Scott Williams in his two matches, and then in the last 32 he stunned Little 6-3.
After defeating Dutch Gian Van Veen 6-5 and Richard Veenstra 6-4, in the last four he won the last four against Luka Humphory, to end the winning series of world new 1 1 in 13 games.
The second event of the player championship will be held on Tuesday in Wigan.
