New Aga Khan named Prince Rahim al-Hussini
Prince Rahim al-Hussini has been proclaimed a new aga Khan, a spiritual leader of the millions of Muslims of Shiit Ismaili around the world.
Will take the role from his father Prince Karim Aga Khan, who died on Tuesday at the age of 88.
The appointment was executed after the will of Prince Karim Aga Khan had fallen away, according to the AGA Khan Development Network.
Prince Rahim al-Hussini Aga Khan V will be 50. The hereditary Imam of Muslims Ismaili, who say they are direct remains of the prophet Muhammad.
Ismailis is a Shiite Muslim sect that respects numerous imams, including Imam Ismail, who died in the age of 765.
They have a world population of about 15 million, including 500,000 in Pakistan.
In India, Afghanistan and parts of Africa, there are a large population.
Prince Karim Aga Khan inherited his grandfather as an Imam from Ismaili Muslims in 1957 at the age of 20.
He died surrounded by families in Lisbon, Portugal, said the AGA Khan development network.
