As I write these words, my heart is difficult. For almost 500 days, I lived in a nightmare that no mother should ever endure. My son Alon spent his 24th birthday earlier this week in the dark tunnels of Hamas, tied, tortured and abused – a second birthday in captivity.
Alon is my oldest son. He has two younger siblings. It is beautiful, with blue hair and bright green eyes. There is also an incredibly talented pianist and a sensitive young man with many dreams to be fulfilled. Alon is a person of people – I am always inspired by his ability to connect with others and build deep ties. I miss his smile, voice, sense of humor and our conversations about life. I only miss me to have it with me, watching him go through in the world with his characteristic determination and curiosity.

October 7, 2023. Alon attended Nova Music Festival. When the attack began, he and others sought refuge in what we are tragically calling the “death shelter” today. Of the 27 people hiding there, only seven survived. Four were abducted: my son Alon, or Levy, Eliya Cohen and Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Or just announced last weekend, Eliya will be announced later this month, and Hersh was tragically executed in captivity. And my son? Despite his serious injuries and deterioration, he is not even involved in the current issue of the issue.

Last Saturday, when I was watching the edition or Levy-Koji, he was abducted along with Alon-echo with Eli Sharabi and Ohad Ben-Ami from captivity, I collapsed. Something that has not happened to me once in the last 16 months. I broke out tears that I couldn’t stop for hours. It was so shocking to see them and a terrible state in which they were so exhausted, pale, with his eyes flooded. I tried to imagine my Alon, my beautiful boy. What does she look like now?

On the same evening, to my great joy, I received a message – the first sign of life from October 7, along with that, the scary descriptions of the conditions in which he adhered to. He was with Or and Eli during their time in captivity. Throughout the captivity, it is restrained by iron levies, limiting its movement. He has a serious eye injury, with a foreign body in it, leaving it capable of seeing only shadows. There are also shrapnels built into the hands and neck that remained untreated. He, like the rest, is barely one piece of bread a day. Almost 500 days in complete darkness.
And he is still there – he is not even involved in the current phase of the agreement. How is my son, chain and wounded, considered a “humanitarian case”?

I am deeply grateful President Trump For his extraordinary efforts in securing a hostage job. In a few weeks, he achieved what seemed impossible, returning many of our loved ones. His unwavering attitude was clear and powerful – all hostages must be released and they must be released now. He realizes that they have no time. There are still about 20 living hostages, including my son, who are not involved in the first phase of edition.
President Trump has already proven that he can make it impossible. Our hope for Alon’s return and return of all the remaining hostages is strongly resting with him. Those efforts, along with The work of Prime Minister Benjamin NetanyahuaThey gathered families and saved lives.
Alon’s great -grandfather survived Auschwitz, weigning only 38 pounds when he was released. He came to Israel and built a wonderful family. Perhaps this resistant DNA is now maintaining Alon alive, as it maintains the conditions that echo the darkest chapters of the history of our people. But how can we, 2025, allow such suffering to continue?

The tunnels in which my son is held are dark, but our determination to bring him home must shine brighter than ever. I refuse to allow Alona to mark another birthday in captivity. I refuse to allow another statistics in this brutal saga. Bring them home immediately. Bring my son home now. Before it is too late.
