RFL Chairman Simon Johnson has announced that he will resign after the scheduled meeting of the Council on Wednesday.

“It has always been my goal to lead an inclusive sport with integrity, honesty, authenticity and openness. My occupation has always been first to put a rugby to the league,” he said.
“Now, in order to enable the constructive movement of sports, I decided to step down as a chair near work on Wednesday, March 12th.
“It is necessary to talk about how change can be made without exposing sports with unnecessary risk, and I hope to step down I can help these discussions to take place constructively.”
RFL confirmed that the new chair insurance procedure will decide “after a formal review”.
