More than 100 women raped and burned alive in Dr. Congo, says UN
More than 100 female prisoners were raped and then burned during a prison in the Kongoli city of Gom, according to the UN.
The masses of prisoners broke out from Munzenze prison last Monday, after fighters from the M23 rebel group began to take over the city.
Between 165 and 167 women attacked men’s prisoners during Jailbreabra, says an internal UN document seen by the BBC.
The report states that most women were killed after the prisoners set fire to prison.
BBC failed to check the reports.
Goma, the capital of more than a million people, was captured after M23 supported from Rwanda made rapid progress through the eastern DR Congo.
The city is immersed in chaos and the bodies lay on the streets, and the rockets were supposedly flying over housing homes.
The footage from last week’s Jailbreak showed that people were running out of the building as the smoke rose in the background. A heavy shooting could also be heard.
In a Separate video, people believed to have fled prisonerstouted by the streets.
More than 2,000 people were killed while M23 clashed with Congolian forces and their allies, Dr. Conga’s government said.
The UN says at least 900 people were killed and almost 3000 wounded. It was unclear why the number of death cases of the UN -AI was different.
Earlier this week, the rebels announced a ceasefire on humanitarian basics, but on Wednesday there were reports on renewed fights.
