They became a powerful symbol of the Israel hostage crisis after a video of Hamas in 2023 showed that the Palestinian militants who led the outraged mother, clutching their two little red -haired sons. Another video showed that the father of the same family was away in Gaza on a motorcycle, his head was bleeding.
On Friday, Hamas said that the 35-year-old father, Yarden Bibas, would be one of three male hostages to get rid of Saturday.

In November 2023, shortly after Hamas said that Mrs. Bibas and her children were killed by Israeli bombing, the group posted a video of Mr. Bibasa, who said his wife and children were killed while breaking crying.
Pictures of the Bibas family are drawn into the Israeli psyche throughout the crisis. They were on the front page of one of the most popular daily newspapers in the country, Yedioth Achronoth, entitled “Mother and two small souls, led to Dark.”
And across the country, the graffiti depicting the family appear on the streets. Some show Baby Kfir holding a pink elephant, as in a photo used for his hostage poster. Others show the thoughtful gathering of the Bibas family, illuminating Hanuku menora.
“I know they have become a symbol,” Mrs. Bibas-Levy said at a conference for tearful journalists last February. “But for us it is our family and we want them back.”
