Four killed in the collapse of South Korea Road | News


The elevated part of the construction highway collapsed in Ansuag, killing or injuring all 10 workers present.

Four people were killed and six were injured in South Korea after the elevated parts of the highway under construction collapsed on Tuesday, fire authorities said.

The National Fire Agency said 10 people worked at the site in Ansong, about 65 km (40 miles) south of the capital of Seoul.

The accident happened at 9:49 (00:49 GMT), when five steel structures of 50 meters (164 meters) that supported the highway bridge demolished, capturing workers in the ruins.

The cause of collapse was not immediately known.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said that a team was sent to the scene.

Hyundai Engineering, a site builder, apologized for losing life and injuries.

“We are actively cooperating with the relevant authorities to ensure the rapid recovery of the place and a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the accident,” the company Yonhap said in a statement of the company.

The acting president of Choi Sang-MoK called mobilizing all available staff and providing security measures to prevent further damage, his office said.
